Transcript

In a prior AI Minute, I talked about how technology gives the non-rich many of the same benefits that were previously only available to the wealthy. But even moving beyond that, technology gives us all abilities which, in the past, had only been attributed to the gods.

We can communicate from afar with almost anybody on the planet as if they're in the same room. We can see events as they happen live around the world, in the way that the gods supposedly could from Mount Olympus. Icarus flew too close to the sun, and yet we fly in aircrafts five miles above the face of the earth at the speed of sound, and can still manage to be annoyed when we have to have the cobb salad because they ran out of turkey wraps.

The exciting thing, of course, is that there are bound to be many things that we haven't imagined, that we haven't even conceived of, that technology is going to soon allow us to do.
