In this episode, Byron talks about how the assembly line transformed the economy.
Transcript
The assembly line was a kind of artificial intelligence. To a craftsperson, this new way to make things must have been terrifying. It made stuff better and faster and cheaper. Henry Ford could make a Model T in 93 minutes. And since he ran 30 lines side by side, a new Model T was created every 3 minutes. And yet, during this time, wages rose. Unemployment never budged. Cheap cars made entirely new industries--cafés and hotels, highway building and maintenance, car insurance, financing and all the rest. AI will be no different than this.
