Radar Usage Rights for Vendors
What you may say, show, and publish about your GigaOm Radar results depends on what you have licensed. This page covers all three cases.
Three rules that apply to every vendor
These hold whether you have licensed the research or not.
No pre-release marketing or PR
GigaOm does not support pre-release marketing or PR of its reports. Any report in the review stage is subject to modification. Until final publication, GigaOm expressly reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to amend, revise, or otherwise alter the content at any time. No statement or representation is final or binding until officially published by GigaOm.
Review before you publish
Every asset that references a Radar (social posts, landing pages, press releases, blogs, booth graphics) is reviewed by GigaOm before it goes live. Submissions are handled first-come, first-served with a 1–3 business day turnaround. Submit materials for review.
Rights are per report and per term
A license covers the specific report named in it. It does not extend to other Radars you appear in, to earlier or later editions of the same Radar, or to use after the license term ends.

If you license the full Radar report
A full Radar license carries reprint rights. You can publish and distribute the report, reproduce the Radar chart, quote the analyst, cite your scores, and use GigaOm marks across every channel, once your materials pass review.
- Stay inside what the published research says. Language that is always appropriate:
- Identifying your ring: Leader or Challenger.
- Identifying your Velocity label as published.
- Naming the quadrant the report places you in.
- Describing results shown in the evaluation metrics scoring tables. For example, top rated across specific evaluation metrics.
- Draw directly on the analyst’s written statements wherever possible, whether in the report document or in a quote provided to you. If the analyst describes Vendor A as “hands down the most innovative provider in its quadrant,” you may quote that statement or paraphrase the conclusion: “Vendor A judged the top innovator in the quadrant.”
- Name the research correctly on first use: the GigaOm Radar Report for [Solution Sector].
- Reproduce the Radar chart in its original form, without editing or manipulation. Two exceptions: you may highlight your own name, provided it is no more than 25% larger than the original text on the Radar; and you may remove the Radar from its frame in order to enlarge it.
- Use the GigaOm logo in your collateral where possible. Request the media kit (high-resolution logos and analyst photos) by emailing [email protected].
- Draw conclusions about your chart position unless the report text or an analyst quote affirms them. Position on the chart is not, on its own, a claim you can make.
- Add superlatives or hyperbole to your description, or extrapolate beyond the tone of the report. Where possible, quote directly.
- Publish anything before the report is published, or before your materials have passed review.
- Apply the license to another report, another edition, or another sector.
Example language
Vendor A leads all vendors in the sector.
Suppose Vendor A and Vendor B both sit in the Leader ring, well ahead of the rest of the field, with Vendor A positioned slightly ahead of Vendor B. The report text calls out both vendors as Leaders that stand apart from all other competitors in their quadrant, but it does not rank one above the other. Without a definitive statement from the analyst, “leads all vendors,” “stands alone as the top-rated vendor,” and “the undisputed leader” are all off limits.
Vendor A was named a Leader in the GigaOm Radar Report for Attack Surface Management, one of two vendors the report identifies as standing apart from the rest of its quadrant.
This tracks the report text exactly, claims only what the analyst wrote, and names the research correctly on first use.
Channels
Once materials are approved, all channels are open: social media, landing pages, press releases, blogs, email, webinars, events, and sales collateral. GigaOm is happy to supply logos for any materials you require. Submit a request here.
Enforcement
Only organizations that have licensed the relevant GigaOm Research are empowered to publish partial findings of our reports, or to refer to their inclusion in a report in social media, newsletters, or external communications. Use of our graphics, the GigaOm logo, partial findings, research language, or links back to the report without reprint rights violates these guidelines and is punishable by the full cost of the research license of the violated report, calculated from the initial date of the violation.
If you license the Achievement Badge only
An Achievement Badge license is a visual and naming right. It lets you show that GigaOm recognized you and name the achievement the badge depicts. It does not carry reprint rights, so the report itself (the chart, the scores, the analyst’s words) stays inside GigaOm’s paywall.
What the license includes
For the single report named in your license: the official GigaOm Achievement Badge depicting your ring, your quadrant, and your Velocity label, plus permission to state in text the achievement the badge depicts. The badge is the only GigaOm asset the license conveys. It does not include the GigaOm-supplied social card, the GigaOm logo, or any other GigaOm mark.
- Display the badge unedited, at any size that keeps its text legible, with clear space around it, alongside your own logo and branding.
- State in text the achievement the badge depicts (the ring, the quadrant, and the Velocity label), naming the research correctly: the GigaOm Radar Report for [Solution Sector].
- Link directly to the official GigaOm report page wherever the badge appears.
- Use the badge across owned and paid channels (your website, social profiles and posts, email, event booths, and sales decks), once materials pass review.
- Issue a press release built on the badge and a factual statement of the achievement it depicts.
- Reproducing the Radar chart, any portion or crop of it, or any other placement visual.
- Describing your position relative to any other vendor in the report, including vendors placed in your own quadrant.
- Citing scores, rankings, or evaluation metric results, in whole, in part, or in summary.
- Distributing the report, excerpts, or screenshots to prospects, customers, press, or the public, or hosting them behind your own form.
- Using the GigaOm logo in your collateral, including alongside the badge. The badge already carries GigaOm’s identity; the logo itself is not licensed to you.
- Using the GigaOm-supplied social card. The social card is a reprint-rights asset and is not provided under a badge license.
- Quoting or paraphrasing the analyst or the report text, including analyst quotes supplied for other purposes.
- Altering the badge: editing, recoloring, cropping, rotating, animating, adding text, or combining it into a new mark or lock-up.
- Recreating the badge or producing any derivative visual that represents Radar positioning.
- Implying the badge is an award, certification, or a GigaOm endorsement of your product, or that GigaOm ranked you first.
- Using the badge outside its scope: for a different report, a different edition, a different sector, or after your license term ends.
Example language
We’re proud to be named a Leader in the Innovation quadrant of the GigaOm Radar Report for Attack Surface Management.
States only what the badge depicts, names the research correctly, and can carry the badge and a link to the report page.
Named a Leader in the Innovation quadrant of the GigaOm Radar, with top scores in automated discovery. GigaOm calls our platform “the most complete offering in the category.”
Naming the Innovation quadrant is fine, because the badge depicts it. The scoring claim and the analyst quote are not: both require a full Radar license.
Enforcement: notice and cure
If GigaOm identifies use beyond the terms above, we handle it in two steps:
- Notice. We contact your marketing or communications lead, identify the specific material, and give you five business days to remove or correct it.
- Escalation. Material that is not corrected within that window, and repeat violations after notice, are treated as unlicensed use of the research: subject to the full cost of the research license of the report involved, calculated from the initial date of the violation. GigaOm may also revoke badge rights for the report.
Corrections made inside the notice window carry no penalty. If you are unsure whether a piece of collateral is inside your rights, submit it for review before it goes live. That is what review is for.
What the full license adds
A badge tells the market GigaOm recognized you. A full Radar license lets you show the work behind the recognition, and put it to use where deals are actually decided.
Evidence, not just a claim
The chart and the evaluation metric scores are the proof a technical buyer asks for after the badge catches their eye. Only the full license lets you show them.
A third-party voice
An analyst’s own sentence about your product carries weight your marketing copy cannot. Reprint rights are what make that sentence quotable.
Ground you choose
A ring and a quadrant are labels. Naming your strongest evaluation metrics lets you frame the category on the terms where you are strongest, rather than on placement alone.
Something sellers can send
Reprint rights put the full report in a prospect’s hands mid-cycle: in RFP responses, security reviews, and board decks. Badge rights stop at the impression.
Room for real campaigns
Gated content, webinars, bylined analysis, and analyst-relations programs all depend on quoting and distributing the research. The full license also conveys the GigaOm marks (the logo and the supplied social card) that badge-only collateral cannot use.
An asset with a shelf life
The licensed report stays useful long after the launch moment has passed, as a reference your teams cite for the life of the license.
If you license nothing at all
Inclusion in a Radar is free, and you may say so. Without a license, that is the extent of it: a factual, text-only statement that you are featured, and a link to the report. This policy outlines the permitted and prohibited uses of GigaOm Radar references by vendors who have not purchased a GigaOm Radar report license.
- Stating that your company is featured in the report, in text-only format.
- Linking directly to the official GigaOm report page.
- Using your own branding (corporate logo or general marketing imagery) alongside a text-based statement.
- Keeping the tone factual and non-promotional. Statements must read as a fact about your inclusion, not as a performance claim.
- Referencing evaluation metric scores.
- Referencing positioning: your ring, your Velocity label, or any equivalent designation.
- Stating quadrant placement.
- Including excerpts that imply rank or relative performance.
- Using language that suggests formal recognition beyond inclusion, including award or certification framing.
Example language
We’re pleased to share that we’ve been featured in GigaOm’s Radar for Attack Surface Management.
Factual, text-only, no positioning claim. It may sit beside your own logo and link to the report page.
[Company] has been named a Leader in the GigaOm Radar Report for Attack Surface Management.
Any messaging that implies placement status, performance tier, or award designation requires an active Radar license.
Graphics and visual assets
GigaOm does not provide supporting graphics, badges, placement visuals, or report extracts to vendors who have not licensed a Radar report. You may not create, reproduce, modify, or distribute any likeness of the GigaOm Radar, including but not limited to:
- Radar quadrant graphics
- Vendor placement indicators
- Scoring visuals
- Achievement badges, or any ring or Velocity badge
- Any derivative visual representation of Radar positioning
The creation or simulation of Radar imagery in any format is strictly prohibited under GigaOm brand guidelines.
Enforcement
Use of our graphics, the GigaOm logo, partial findings, research language, or links back to the report without reprint rights violates these guidelines and is punishable by the full cost of the research license of the violated report, calculated from the initial date of the violation.
How to license a Radar
There is no cost associated with being included in a GigaOm Radar. Licensing is a separate, optional decision you make after the report publishes, and it is what unlocks everything on this page.
